The Baptist Leadership Development Institute Classes

• Core Curriculum

  All Managers and/or Team Leaders of the Baptist Health System who have responsibilities relative to personnel management (hiring, directing, and conducting performance appraisals) and/or budget will be required to complete the Foundations of Leadership series which consists of 64 hours of training in the following courses:

  • The Business of Baptist
    8 hours with competency exam
    
    
  • Healthcare Finance and Budgeting
    16 hours with competency exam
    
    
  • Skills Assessment Workshop
    24 hours
    
    
  • Teams 2001
    8 hours
    
    
  • Human Resource Leadership
    8 hours with competency exam

     

  Further, all potential new Managers and Team Leaders should complete this training and its successful completion serve as requirement for selection.
  All Directors are invited to participate based on interest and need.
  
  

• Advanced Curriculum

Upon completion and successful demonstration of competency in the Foundations of Leadership, all Managers and Team Leaders will be required to complete three courses per year in the Advanced Leadership Curriculum. Course selections should be based on individual development needs identified in the Individual Development Plans created during the Skills Assessment Workshop.

Course work to meet developmental needs in the 15 critical leadership skill dimensions will be offered through the Leadership Development Institute.

The skill dimensions being addressed in the course will be listed at the end of the course description. Also, external seminars, online learning, mentoring, and other approaches are encouraged to help leaders meet their developmental needs. All course work completed outside the Leadership Development Institute will require approval for credit award.
