Dan
Hix, Director
Dan came to Baptist Hospital in 1988 as staff chaplain with primary
responsibility among the staff and patients of the Baptist Cancer
Center. Dan served in this capacity until 1997 when he became the
director of Pastoral Care. Dan continues as chaplain with the Baptist
Cancer Center. All of the chaplains are part of the On Call team to
provide Pastoral Care in the hospital 24 hours a day. |
Rick
Harrison, Pastoral Counselor
Rick came to Baptist Hospital in 1993 as Director of the pastoral
Care Counseling Center. The Pastoral Care Counseling Center has two
satellite centers in Maryville and Newport. Rick also coordinates
Baptist Employee Assistance Program offering quality counseling to
the employees of Baptist Hospital. |

Brad
Hood, Chaplain
Brad began his ministry at baptist Hospital as a resident in Clinical
Pastoral Education in 1992. After two years of residency, he worked
for three years as staff chaplain for Baptist memorial Hospital in
Memphis. He returned to Knoxville in 1997 as Staff Chaplain. Brad's
responsibilities include ministry to the Cardiac Services of the
hospital, ICU, Labor and Delivery, and the Transitional Care Unit.
All of the
chaplains are part of the On Call team to provide Pastoral Care in
the hospital 24 hours a day. |
Phil
Groos, Hospice of
East Tennessee Chaplain
Phil began his ministry at Baptist Hospital as a resident in Clinical
Pastoral Education in 1988. He joined the department in 1990 as
staff
chaplain with dual responsibilities in the hospital and Hospice.
Phil has recently become full time chaplain with Hospice of East
Tennessee.
Phil coordinates and facilitates a variety of support groups in the
community. All of the chaplains are part of the On Call team to
provide
Pastoral Care in the hospital 24 hours a day. |

Ivan
McDaneld, Chaplain
Ivan began his ministry at Baptist Hospital as a resident in Clinical
Pastoral Education in 1995. He completed two years of CPE in 1997
and was hired as staff chaplain. Ivan's responsibilities in the hospital
include ICU, Adult Psychiatric Unit, Geriatric Psychiatric Unit, Adult
Rehabilitation, and the acute care medical-surgical unit (3C). Ivan
also coordinates the departmentally sponsored continuing education
events. All of the chaplains are part of the On Call team to provide
Pastoral Care in the hospital 24 hours a day. |
Dena
Mashburn, Coordinator
for Parish Nursing
Dena is a Registered Nurse and a certified family Nurse Practitioner
with a broad range of management and clinical experience. She came
to our department in the summer of 2000. her role involves assisting
new churches in establishing a Parish Nurse program, as well as providing
support to the nurses currently working in church programs. |

Swilley, Department Secretary
Caroline joined the Pastoral Care Department in 2000 as the Department
Secretary. |
