Baptist opens only women's hospital in region 

Healthcare for women continues to be the hot topic across the nation.  Women often require different treatment for their illnesses and exhibit different symptoms.  Women are demanding to be examined as women and not simply as a patient.  With the opening of the area's first women's hospital, Baptist responds to those demands. 

On July 1, 2003, Baptist Health System leads East Tennessee into a new era of healthcare tailored to women as it opened Baptist Hospital for Women.  One of two hospitals at the new Turkey Creek location, Baptist Hospital for Women is not just devoted to birthing.  In fact, the new facility cares for any and all issues related to the health of women in the region. 

The hospital features a full range of diagnostic services for women.  The newest technology in the diagnosis of breast cancer, digital mammography, is available.  Digital ultrasounds, bone densitometry studies and stereotactic breast biopsies will all be completed with the newest, most technologically advanced equipment in East Tennessee.  Women who use Baptist Hospital for Women's services are treated to an atmosphere as comfortable as their own living room. 

Baptist Hospital for Women is more than a breast center as well.  The hospital has surgical beds for procedures devoted strictly to women, such as hysterectomies.  An infertility center is also available for couples having difficulties conceiving. 

The brand new facility is home to the 10 newest Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) rooms in the area.   Women will experience all stages of childbirth in one large, state-of-the-art room that has the feel of home.  The birthing center is equipped with a complete security system for the safety of mothers and their new babies.  East Tennessee Children's Hospital is partnering with Baptist Hospital for Women to provide neonatal nurse clinicians in the facility 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

Baptist Hospital for Women shares the Turkey Creek location with Baptist Health System's other newest hospital, Baptist Hospital West.  One of only a handful of women's hospitals in the country, the facility features the same state-of-the-art technology, the same exciting services and the same amenities offered by Baptist Hospital West.  Baptist is responding to the needs of East Tennessee.  On July 1, the health system brought its award winning reputation and innovation to West Knox County, just for you.
