Emergency Care

The new ER facility at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County (Opened Summer 2004) is more than triple the size of the previous emergency room.  Patients and staff have 16 beds to work with. All this adds up to additional space and greater privacy for our patients.

Each room in the new building is a private room, alleviating any confidentiality issues between the doctors and patients and increasing the comfort for all individuals.  Patient cases are separated in different areas of the emergency room depending upon the severity of the case from non-urgent to urgent.

The waiting room offers more seating, expanded space and additional restrooms.  Soon, the emergency room will become a paperless area.  A new online, paperless charting system will be installed in the new facility along with a cardiac central monitoring system, allowing doctors and nurses to monitor every patient in the emergency room from the central nursing station.

The Emergency Department provides Around-the-clock services. Equipped to handle both critical and cardiac care, the sixteen-bed unit includes a trauma area. The Emergency Room is staffed with qualified nursing personnel with Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
